USA and ISLAMOFOBI••••

Muslim religious officials living in the USA, who expressed their discomfort with the Islamophobic discourse and actions in this country, talked about their experiences.

According to Muslim religious officials who live in the USA and express their discomfort with the Islamophobic discourse and actions in this country, Americans have been trying to understand Muslims and their culture with what they see on television for a long time, and they feel great love when they get to know this culture closely.

Turkey, the Ansar and the Turkey Youth and Education Services Foundation of held for officials Muslim chaplains in the US and Canadian universities with the cooperation of the "Turkish Youth Bridges Project" in Ankara DePauw University Spiritual Life Center Manager Sami Hamline University with Saints Religious and Spiritual Life Program Coordinator  Zan Christ spoke to AA correspondent about the situation of Muslims in the USA and the difficulties they face.

DePauw University Spiritual Life Center Director Sami Aziz stated that Muslims in the USA are still trying to understand how to live a life in accordance with Islam.

Stressing that a force that puts pressure on people's understanding of values and ethics will be rejected, Aziz said that this is why the US Democrats reject the Republican Party led by US President Donald Trump and see Muslims as their friends.

Aziz, who has the title of being the first imam to manage the spiritual life program in a college in the USA, said, "Currently, US Muslims have many Democratic friends. We mostly see xenophobia and Islamophobic behavior from Republicans. We see love and support from Democrats.  As long as it is, it will be fine with an inter-Muslim group, but I don't know what will happen when this problem is over. "  he spoke.

Stating that he recently started to live in the state of Indiana in the USA, Aziz stated that there were too many conservatives and Trump supporters in this region and that he was exposed to Islamophobic attacks twice.

Noting that he has many white American friends, Aziz continued as follows:

"White Americans in Indiana love me and always invite me to his home. But there is also Islamophobia in Indiana. This is because people have a hard time understanding Muslims. People are trying to understand Muslims and their culture from what they see on television. Now, meeting with us and  They want to meet. They love it when they get to know us closely. We have good food and a cheerful culture. "

Underlining that a concept called "American Islam" has not yet developed, Aziz stated that Islam is the same everywhere and that it is not correct to change it according to non-Muslim cultures.

Aziz emphasized that the revision of Islam according to other cultures confuses the young generations the most, "They are trying to get rid of this situation. As a spiritual life coach, I try to make Muslim youths more confident in fulfilling their religious obligations."  found the assessment.

"We live in fear in the USA"
Zan Christ, Coordinator of Religious and Spiritual Life Programs at Hamline University, said that following Trump's election, life has become more difficult for Muslims.

Reminding that the presidential decree banned those from some Muslim countries from entering the United States, Christ noted that even the living standards of non-Muslims in the country were deteriorating.

Underlining that Muslims in the USA do not feel comfortable, Christ said, "As Muslims, we live in fear in the USA. We do not want to be killed. We know that President Trump hates Muslims. This is negative and not healthy."  used the expressions.

Noting that Islamophobia is widespread in America, Christ stated that he had bad experiences with security and that Muslims were targeted.

Christ said, "Sometimes you don't want to walk down the street. I dress in the veil and sometimes people make fun of it and it makes me angry. There are also hate crimes against Muslims. This is scary."  made his comment.

"Muslims will be more active in the future"
Recalling that American Muslims are now represented by more politicians, Christ noted:

"We have elected two Muslim women politicians to the US Congress and they are working well. The election of more Muslim politicians is the beginning of hope against Trump's policies because he treats Muslims badly. These are the first steps to more successful results in the future. More Muslims in the US in the coming years.  will be active in politics and other fields. "

On the other hand, Christ pointed out that the concept of "American Islam" in the USA can be defined as a new identity. "This concept is newly formed and Muslims are trying to create a new identity. We will see what this will bring. I accept this concept."  he spoke.
